Taxi Driver
Taxi drivers transport passengers between destinations using a car, van, or other vehicle. They are responsible for picking up and dropping off customers safely, collecting fares, providing excellent customer service, assisting with luggage if needed, and keeping the vehicle in good condition. Taxi drivers play a key role in urban and suburban transportation systems.
To work as a taxi driver in New Jersey (or NYC), you must complete a taxi license application, upgrade to a Class E or Commercial Driver’s License, complete required training courses (such as Defensive Driving and TLC Driver Education), pass a medical exam, drug test, and fingerprint background check, and successfully complete a licensing exam. Local municipalities or the Taxi & Limousine Commission (TLC) may have specific requirements.
